Authroities are investigating a fatal accident at the foot of the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway.
The single-vehicle accident happened on the eastbound lanes on South Padre Island side of the bridge around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
South Padre island police reported that a car hit the concrete median of the causeway killing the 65-year-old driver.
The man, who was identified as a resident of Arizona, was the only person inside the car.
Investigators are not releasing the man's name at this time.
Cameron County Justice of the Peace Bennie Ochoa pronounced the man dead and ordered an autopsy.
Authorities closed down one lane at the foot of the causeway while crews worked to clear the scene.
