A Brownsville father is facing criminal charges after he allegedly shot his 8-year-old son in the stomach with a BB gun to "teach him a lesson."
Miguel Gonzalez surrendered to Brownsville police on an injury to a child charge on Saturday.
Investigators told Action 4 News that the incident happened back on Sunday, February 16th when the 35-year-old had custody of his children.
Police said Gonzalez's 8-year-old son was taking a bath when he accidentally shot his 7-year-old brother with a BB gun.
Gonzalez allegedly responded by taking the gun and shooting the 8-year-old in the stomach to "teach him a lesson."
The boy's mother reported the incident to police prompting a child abuse investigation.
Investigators said both boys were taken to a hospital where they were evaluated for minor injuries.
Gonzalez was released from custody after posting a $5,000 dollar bond.
