A man identified as a fugitive in the Big Momma cocaine trafficking case has been arrested in the Rio Grande Valley.
FBI agents arrested Manuel Garza in the Brownsville area on Monday.
Federal court records show Garza is one of 16 suspects in a multi-million drug smuggling scheme known as the Big Momma case.
Idalia Ramos Rangel, a high-level Gulf Cartel member nicknamed La Tia or Big Momma, allegedly oversaw the shipment of hundreds of kilos of cocaine from Matamoros to Arkansas.
Authorities rounded up several people in connection to the case in Arkansas and Texas during "Operation Dirty Bird" last week, including three suspects from Brownsville.
Garza is expected to appear before a federal judge in Brownsville on Tuesday morning.
