Feds seize emails from 25 people as part of Limas corruption scandal

Court Records Naming 25 People

Federal authorities have seized emails from more than 25 more people in connection to the Abel Limas cash for court favors scandal.

Among the names are Abel Limas's wife Genevieve Limas and former Port of Brownsville Police Chief George Gavito.

A longtime lawman, Gavito was the lead investigator in the Matamoros cult kidnapping and murder of college student Mark Kilroy.

Another notable person on the list is Florencio Lencho Rendon.

Rendon is a candidate for the Nueces County Democratic Party Chair but formerly served as chief of staff for former U.S. Congressman Solomon Ortiz.

Former Judge Abel Limas is accused in a federal bribery and racketeering case where prosecutors allege cash was exchanged for favorable rulings from his bench.
