Female adolescent body found in rural McAllen identified as a runaway, HCSO says
RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas (KGBT) - The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office identified the body of an adolescent found in rural McAllen as a runaway Friday, according to a news release.
At approximately 8:20 a.m. Friday, sheriff’s deputies arrived at the area near West Schunior Street and Rooth Road in rural McAllen, regarding a report of an unidentified body.
After investigators arrived at the scene to gather evidence, a justice of the peace was notified, then ordered an autopsy for the deceased female adolescent, according to the news release.
After information was shared via social media and local news outlets, the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office received calls from people who had family members who had recently run away and were inquiring about the body.
After investigation, officials were able to identify the adolescent as 15-year-old Kassandra Ramirez, who had been reported as a runaway Wednesday with the San Juan Police Department, according to the news release.
Investigators notified Ramirez’s next of kin and are still investigating the cause of death.

The body of an unidentified female was found on the ground near Schunior and Rooth Road near Edinburg.
The female is approximately 13 to 15 years of age, according to Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office.
EMS arrived at the scene around 8:20 a.m. She was found dead on the scene.
Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the ongoing investigation.
