Five illegal arcades shut down by Special Investigation Unit

Within two days, seven people were arrested for gambling charges in Brownsville.
On Thursday, Special Investigations Unit members searched three illegal arcades on Boca Chica Boulevard and Mackintosh Drive where they seized a total of $12,529, 154 gambling devices and made six arrests.
Carlos Alberto Santana, 19, Cristian Adrian Aguilar, 18, Martin Villanueva, 46, Jorge Fernando Lopez, 25, and Samuel Maldonado, 25, were all charged with gambling promotion, possession of gambling device and keeping a gambling place.
Edgar Vega, 24, faced the gambling offenses and deported felon with a handgun charges.
The following day Special Investigation Unit performed two more investigations on Alton Goor Boulevard and Boca Chica Boulevard.
They seized 66 gambling devices, $875 and arrested 53-year-old Leticia Lozano De La Garza.
She is charged with gambling promotion, possession of gambling device and keeping a gambling place.
Some of the owners of these illegal gambling organizations even showed to be hiring undocumented workers to run the business. Due to this discovery, the gambling charges might get upgraded to Engaging in organized criminal activity which is a State Jail Felony.
