      Flirting With Flurries: School Closures & Delays

      Parts of the Rio Grande Valley could be expecting snow flurries overnight.

      The chance for showers and drizzle will increase overnight and so will the chance for sleet and flurries Action 4 Chief Meteorologist Bryan Hale said.

      Temperatures are expected to be near freezing overnight.

      The Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) will be keeping an eye on the road ways across the valley.

      Schools are also keeping a close eye on the weather.

      Below is the current list of school delays for Wednesday, January 28, 2014.

      If a school or school district is NOT listed, they will hold classes at their regular schedule.

      Brownsville Federal Courthouse

      The Brownsville Federal Courthouse will have REGULAR business hours and jury duty.

      Brownsville ISD

      Due to inclement weather, Brownsville ISD will have a delayed start on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at 10:00 am. All employees and students are to report to campuses and offices at 10:00 am. Bus students must report to bus stops at the following times:

      Middle Schools - 8:30 amElementary Schools - 9:00 amHigh Schools - 9:30 am

      According to the school district, campus staff must report to work at 9 am to assist with the arrival of students. All BISD Transportation Department employees are to report by 7:30 am.

      Brownsville ISD Soccer Games

      All of Tuesday night's Brownsville ISD soccer games have been postponed to Wednesday @ 5:30 PM. Split sites for boys & girls.

      Calvary Christian School

      Calvary Christian School and Daycare in Harlingen will begin classes at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow.

      Discovery School (Edinburg):

      The Director of The Discovery School in Edinburg said school will be delayed until 9:30 a.m., and classes will be dismissed at regular times on Wednesday, January 29, 2014.

      Donna ISD

      Secondary Classes will begin at 9:00am

      Elementary Classes will begin at 9:30am (Morning Pre-K) will be picked-up with morning elementary route and will remain the entire day (afternoon Pre-K will be cancelled)

      Dismissal time for Elementary and Secondary will remain the same.

      All Campus Staff will report at 8:30am

      DPS Offices

      The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Regional Offices and all driver's license offices in the Rio Grande Valley will delay opening until 10 am on Wednesday, January 29th, 2014.

      Edcouch-Elsa ISD

      Edcouch-Elsa ISD is delaying the start of classes by ONE hour.

      Classes will be dismissed at their regular times.

      Edinburg CISD

      Classes will be delayed for teachers and staff Wednesday. High school and middle school classes will begin at 9 a.m. Bus routes for high school and middle school will begin at 8 .m.

      Elementary classes will begin at 9:30 a.m. Bus routes will start at 8:30 a.m.

      All staff must report to work by 8:30 a.m.

      Edinburg City Services

      Due to weather conditions all evening Parks and Recreation Programs and activities scheduled for tonight (Tuesday) have been canceled.

      Programs and Activities will resume Wednesday, January 29, 2014.

      Also Commercial Trash pickup will be delayed until 10 a.m.

      Episcopal Day School

      The Episcopal Day School will begin classes at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 due to the inclement weather.

      Daycare will be available in Chapel at 9:00.

      Excellence in Leadership Academy

      Excellence in Leadership Academy in Mission, Texas would like to let the public know that we are cancelling all classes on Wednesday, January 29, 2014.

      Classes will resume on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at their regular time.

      Harmony Science Academy in Brownsville will have a delayed start on Wednesday.

      Hidalgo County will be OPEN and maintain NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS on Wednesday, January 29, 2014

      Hidalgo ISD

      Classes will be delayed Wednesday, January 29, 2014 because of weather conditions. Elementary Campuses: Bus pickup will be at 9:15 am and classes will begin at 10 am. Secondary Campuses (Diaz Jr. High, Hidalgo Academy, and HECHS): Bus pickup will be at 8:20 am and classes will begin at 9 am. Parents: You may begin to drop off your child beginning at 7:30 am. Personnel will be available for supervision. Faculty and Staff must report at regular hours.

      Horizon Montessori

      Horizon Montessori 1 (McAllen) we will begin classes at 9:30 a.m.

      Breakfast will be served as soon as students arrive to school.

      The elementary auditorium will open at 9:00 a.m. for student drop-off.

      The start of the school day will be delayed tomorrow by an hour and a half due to reports of increasingly cold weather.

      Classes will begin at 9:20 a.m. for our elementary schools, at 9:30 a.m. for our middle schools, and at 9:45 a.m. for our high schools.

      Everyone is asked to adjust his or her regular schedule by one and a half hours.

      The school day will end at the regular time. The regular schedule will resume on Thursday, January 30th, 2014.

      Mercedes ISD

      All classes will begin at 10 am.

      Employees must report to work at 9:30 am.

      Mid Valley Academy Charter High Schools

      Mid Valley Academy Charter High Schools in McAllen, Mercedes, and San Benito will start classes tomorrow morning at their regular hours.

      Mission CISD

      The start of the school day for all Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) schools will be delayed tomorrow (January 29) by an hour and a half.

      Classes will begin at 9:15 a.m. for our elementary schools, at 9:45 a.m. for our junior high schools and high schools.

      School bus pick up times will also be delayed by an hour and a half.

      School administration and custodians should report to work as close to the regular times as possible.

      The school day will end at the regular time. The regular schedule will resume on Thursday, January 30, 2014.

      Monte Alto ISD

      All classes are now scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

      Bus routes will begin at 7:45 a.m. for all students.

      Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School in Mission will have a delay tomorrow with school beginning at 9:15 am.

      Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School in McAllen will delay the start of the school day Wednesday. Classes will begin at 9:45am.

      Pharr Oratory Schools

      The Pharr Oratory of St. Philip Neri School System said they will delay the start of school on Wednesday by 90 minutes.

      School is set to start at 9:00 a.m., and teachers and staff are asked to show up at 8:30 a.m.

      Point Isabel ISD

      Point Isabel ISD will have a delayed start. Elementary at 9:30 and secondary at 10:00 a.m.

      PSJA ISD

      PSJA ISD Schools will delay the start of school 90 minutes tomorrow morning, Wed. Jan. 29 due to possible inclement weather.

      Middle Schools will start at 9:00 amHigh Schools will start at 9:30 amElementary Schools will start at 10:00 am

      All bus routes will also run 90 minutes behind regular schedule.

      Teachers and campus staff should report 30 minutes prior to student arrival.

      Premier High School

      RAHC - Regional Academic Health Center

      Harlingen and Edinburg campuses of the Regional Academic Health Center will open at 10 am on Wednesday, January 29.

      Raymondville ISD

      All classes will start at 10 am Wednesday.

      Classes will be dismissed at their regular time.

      Rio Grande City CISD

      Elementary and Middle schools being at 9:30 am

      High schools begin at 10 am

      All staff is required to begin a their regular times.

      Rio Hondo ISD

      Rio Hondo ISD is delaying the start of classes by ONE hour.

      Roma ISD

      Delaying start time for all students and employees by 1 hour on Wednesday, January 29th, 2014.

      San Benito CISD

      Due to inclement weather, San Benito CISD will delay classes by two hours.

      San Perlita ISD

      San Perlita ISD will be starting classes at 10:00am tomorrow, Wednesday, January 29th.

      Buses will be running two hours later than usual for the morning route.

      Santa Rosa ISD

      Due to potential bad weather tomorrow morning, the following schedule will be followed for Wednesday, January 29, 2014:

      Texas Southmost College

      TSC offices and classes will be CLOSED until 10:00am on Wednesday, January 29th.

      The campus will begin all classes and normal operations at 10:00 am in the morning. All TSC classes held this evening, Tuesday, January 28th, will meet at the regular scheduled times.
