Stripes on 1991 FM 802 in Brownsville scored 28 demerits on a health inspection report. Kitchen cops uncovered unsound meat, chicken out of date and dirty equipment, according to the report. Aziz on Mile 3 and Bentsen Palm near Palmview scored the most demerits with 29. Inspectors found off temperature meat, no soap or paper towels and improper hygiene practices. In McAllen, United Drive In #5 on 2620 South 23rd Street was busted with 25 demerits. There were a number of violations for improper employee hygiene practices. In one instance, a food handler was serving lemonade and nachos without washing hands. Inspectors also discovered meat stored over vegetables in the refrigerator. That TMs a cross contamination violation. But there weren TMt any troubling kitchen conditions at this week TMs featured top performer!
