Former Corpus cop gets 13 years for improper relationship with teen

An ex-Corpus Christi police officer has been sentenced to more than 13 years in prison for having an improper online and sexual relationship with a girl.

A federal judge in Houston on Thursday sentenced 27-year-old Robert McChester Jr.

McChester in June pleaded guilty to online solicitation of a minor. He resigned from the police department after the inappropriate relationship became public this spring.

Investigators say McChester knew the girl was 14 years old when he began communicating with her online in April 2011.

Authorities say McChester used a telephone and a computer to entice the girl to engage in sexual activity.

The teen told medical professionals that she met with the officer several times.
