A former North Texas sheriff's deputy has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after he impregnated a 16-year-old girl.

A Tarrant County jury deliberated less than 20 minutes before sentencing Jonathan Lewis Helm on Thursday.

The day before, the same jury found the 41-year-old former Tarrant County sheriff's deputy guilty of one count of sexual assault of a child under 17 and one of prohibited sexual conduct.

Helm testified that he was drunk at a Thanksgiving gathering in 2010 when he had sex with the girl.
