Former firefighter union president allegedly writes hot checks
Weslaco's Former Firefighters Association President Christopher Cuellar is charged with theft and forgery, after turning himself into Weslaco Police.
Cuellar had a standing arrest warrant and was officially charged Wednesday.
He is accused of forging more than $2,700 worth of checks to pay Time Warner Cable bills between September of 2012 and January of this year.
The Weslaco Firefighters Association conducted an investigation after finding discrepancies. The findings were then turned over to police.
On May 23rd, the union filed charges against the former firefighter.
Cuellar said he plans to hire his own attorney
The judge set cuellar's bond at $40,000.
