Former Valley mayor arrested in 8-liner raid

A raid at an 8-liner lands a former Brownsville Mayor behind bars.

Pat Ahumada, the alleged owner of Goldmine 777, was taken into custody just after 8 Friday night in handcuffs.

HSI along with local authorities raided the sweepstakes 8-liner located right off U.S. 77 and Price Road in Brownsville.

Investigators placed customers in seats outside the business, and began questioning them.

Authorities also raided an illegal gambling facility in Port Isabel believed to be owned by Ahumada as well.

Last month, federal, local, and county authorities raided at least five illegal gambling facilities in Western Cameron County seizing more than $1.7 million dollars in machines.

Ahumada served as the mayor in Brownsville from 2007 to 2011.
