Foster agency disputes state's findings in death

A foster care agency that oversaw a home in which an 11-month-old was killed disputes the findings of the state's investigation into the death.

The state this week ordered Lutheran Social Services of the South stop taking children into its Austin-area program. State officials said the agency knew that Jacob Salas -- a man with a history of drug, alcohol and domestic abuse -- visited the Cedar Park home where the child was living but failed to keep him away.

He's jailed on felony child abuse charges in Orion Hamilton's death.

The Austin American-Statesman ( ) reports Friday the foster agency said in a statement they told state the Department of Family and Protective Services in a meeting they "do not agree with their findings."

The foster agency didn't give specifics.
