Fugitive mother back behind bars in Brownsville child abuse case

Leticia Ines

A Brownsville mother accused of locking her daughter in a closet and then skipping out on a court appearance is back behind bars.

Leticia Ines is accused of keeping her 12-year-old daughter locked in a closet for months.

The girl was only allowed to leave the closet to go to school or use the bathroom.

Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Ines on Wednesday for failing to appear in court for hearing.

The U.S. Marshals tracked down Ines to Harlingen on Thursday afternoon and arrested her.

The Brownsville mother is being held at the Cameron County Jail without bond.

Investigators told Action 4 News that she may face additional charges.
