A Michigan teacher's aide is behind bars in the Rio Grande Valley and facing extradition after being accused of sexually abusing a middle school student.

U.S. Marshals arrested 32-year-old April Rose Patzkowsky at her family's home in Brownsville over the weekend.

WOOD-TV is reporting that Patzkowsky was wanted for sexually abusing a student at W.K. Kellogg Middle School in Battle Creek, Michigan.

The Grand Rapids-based TV station reported that Patzkowsky worked a bilingual teacher's aide for the past five years where she focused on helping students master their English-language skills.

WOOD-TV reported spoke with Patzkowsky's estranged husband, who said the incident is alleged to have taken place off campus last summer.

The TV station reported that Patzkowsky had been married for 13 years, had two children and kept authorities informed about her whereabouts.

Patzkowsky remains in custody without bond in Cameron County Jail pending extradition back to the Wolverine State.
