A McAllen family is spending Good Friday making funeral arrangements for their son who authorities believed drowned in a canal.
McAllen firefighters recovered the body of 7-year-old John Alexander Perri from a canal off Mile 5 North late Thursday night.
The Hendricks Elementary School second grader went missing after reportedly falling into the canal on Wednesday evening.
An intense search ended after officials drained the canal and found his body in almost the same exact spot he fell in.
Family members declined to talk on camera but confirmed that Ceballos Funeral Home off North 23rd Street in McAllen is handling the funeral services.
A viewing is expected to be held from 1 to 9 p.m. on Saturday but burial arrangement were not immediately available.
