Girl raped at rural home outside Palmview

Authorities are searching for a man who allegedly raped a 7-year-old while at her rural Hidalgo County home.

It all happened at a home on Acevedo Street near the intersection of South Green Road and Business 83 late Wednesday afternoon.

Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office deputies said they received a report of a sexual assault of a child around 4:11 p.m. Wednesday.

Neighbors told Action 4 News via Facebook that the girl was home alone at the time of the crime.

Home Alone

The neighbors said the suspect broke into the house, raped the girl and fled after she ran outside screaming for help.

Deputies confirmed that the girl was home alone alone at the time and that a masked masked man dressed in black committed the crime.

Investigators told Action 4 News that they have identified a person of interest in the case but no arrest has been reported.

Child TMs mother who reported the incident stated that the child was alone at their home and was advised by the child upon her arrival that she had been sexually assaulted.

Suspect At Large

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male wearing all black and covered his face with a black mask.

There were no weapons displayed during the incident.

Deputies said the girl was examined by medical staff at a local hospital and released to her parents.

The child will be interviewed by child interview specialist and the investigation continues.
