Golden China, Mr. Gatti's win Golden Plates for cleanest

Two more restaurants have entered Food 4 Thought's hall of fame as Golden Plate Award winners.

Mr. Gatti's on 1208 South Expressway 83 in Harlingen and Golden China on 401 East University Drive in Edinburg were recently crowned king of clean.

The winners were selected based on the number of top performer stickers received by the Food Patrol on Food 4 Thought Wednesday night's on Action 4 News at ten and also in part by health department and public approval.

Golden China's head waitress, Marissa Garcia, talked about how the restaurants stickers have helped with business.

"They're like wow you guys have stickers on the door...That motivates us to come in... And we only want to eat where there are stickers," she said.

Each restaurant earned two in the last year for zero demerit health inspection reports.

Golden China called the Golden Plate Award their biggest achievement to date.

The restaurant served cake to employees in celebration with the words "Golden China Keeps It Clean" written with icing.

"We work very hard," Garcia said. "And we're very proud of this award."

Mr. Gatti's said their Golden Plate will be shared with customers.

Staff wrote words like, "this is for you," on buffet glass.

"We're going to display it with honor," Tony Juarez said. "Just like we do with the other stickers... So keeping it clean people... It's right here in Harlingen."
