Grandfather jailed after disciplining grandson allegedly goes too far

A grandfather is facing criminal charges after disciplining an unruly grandchild allegedly went too far.

Peitas police arrested 68-year-old Antonio B. Salazar on an injury to a child charge on Sunday.

Police Chief Roel Bermea told Action 4 News that Salazar was babysitting his grandchildren when the incident happened.

Salazar TMs daughter-in-law had to go work leaving the children with their grandfather at his Alma Street home.

Chief Bermea said Salazar TMs 12-year-old grandson acted up and Salazar responded by using his hands to restrain the boy.

The boy and his family reported what happened to police, who found red marks on the 12-year-old TMs neck.

Salazar was released from the Hidalgo County Jail after posting a $2,500 bond.
