Group of six arrested for string of Brownsville auto thefts

Brownsville Police Department arrested six people linked to a string of car thefts in the past two months.

Police said all six were caught after they attempted to steal a GMC Yukon on May 23.

Investigators have also linked Armando Salazar, Mario Moreno, Joel Anthony Airacheta, Lisa Gomez, Andrew James Iracheta and Raul Mendoza Lopez to ten other auto thefts.

Police said the group had been working together since March to commit the string of crimes.

Each person was charged with the ten counts of motor vehicle theft and one count of engaging in organized criminal activity.

According to police, these arrests have led investigators to another group that is targeting Dodge vehicles in the area.
