Gunfire, blockades paralyze downtown Reynosa

Authorities are investigating reports of gunfire and narcoblockades that paralyzed downtown Reynosa early Wednesday morning.

Residents turned to the social media network Twitter to report gunfire in the downtown area just before 8 a.m. Wednesday.

A military helicopter was seen in the sky while blockades were reported on the streets in and around downtown Reynosa.

Reynosa city officials issued an alert on Twitter asking people to avoid the nearby Colonia Riberea.

City officials also reported that suspects had thrown tire spikes on a highway between Reynosa and the neighboring City of Rio Bravo.

There were immediate reports of injuries or casualties but Action 4 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
