Residents from a neighborhood near Dixieland Reservoir are being allowed back into their homes after firefighters put a brush fire under control.

Action 4 News is at the scene of a wildfire off Briana Circle -- located between Dixieland, Garrett and Tucker Roads.

The Harlingen Fire Department were called to the neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters told Action 4 News that at least two separate wildfires are burning in the area prompting them to ask residents to evacuate about a dozen homes.

Some neighbors stayed behind to fight the wildfire with their home water hoses.

The fire scorched a few acres of land and came close to one home before being contained.

Harlingen and the rest of the Rio Grande Valley remains under a fire weather watch issued by the National Weather Service.

Weather officials say drought conditions and strong winds are ideal for spreading wildlfires.
