Harlingen IRS office temporarily relocates to McAllen
Mon, 11 Aug 2008 21:24:20 GMT —
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced today that it will temporarily relocate its Harlingen IRS office at 2701 Sunshine 77 Strip, Harlingen, TX, which was damaged by Hurricane Dolly to 320 N. Main Street, McAllen, Texas 78501.
In the meantime, we do not want our taxpayers to make a trip to an office that is closed, said Lea Crusberg, IRS Spokesperson. However, those taxpayers who regularly send correspondence should send it to the Harlingen IRS office, she said.
This new location will be open for business starting Monday, August 18 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This includes the Taxpayer Assistance Center (TAC) where taxpayers can get face-to-face help from the IRS on weekdays at: 320 N. Main Street, McAllen, Texas 78501.
IRS employees and the TAC office will temporarily relocate to this space until the Harlingen office reopens.
Taxpayers can still access the IRS web site at www.irs.gov or call the toll-free tax help line at 1-800-829-1040. That line is available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. CDT weekdays. People inquiring about their stimulus payments should call the toll-free Rebate Hotline at 1-866-234-2942. Please listen to the entire message for instructions and additional information.
