Harlingen looking for community input for planning future

The City of Harlingen is looking to make some big improvements in the community and they're turning to residents for help.

Earlier today city leaders held a public forum allowing those in the Harlingen community to discuss what changes they would like to see in their area.

Officials are looking for feedback and ideas as they implement their 20-year plan.

They are setting goals for tourism, infrastructure, and neighborhood development.

"A plan is only as good as the people behind the plan, so if you want to build a great plan for a great city, you go to get people to support that plan and when they're a part of the process they tend to support the plan better, Mayor Chris Boswell said.

This is the third planning meeting the city has held.

The next forum will take place on January 18th at the TSTC's cultural arts center starting at 8:30 in the morning.
