A Harlingen man is behind bars after being accused of hitting another man on the head with a crowbar and then robbing him.
Cameron County Sheriff's Department deputies arrested 28-year-old Eliazar Antonio Escobedo on Monday.
Court records show that Escobedo is accused of beating and robbing a man off Executive Drive just southwest of Harlingen back on December 19th.
The man said he was visiting a woman who lived there when a red Chevrolet Impala pulled up and several men got out.
Escobedo allegedly hit the man on the head with a crowbar and demanded money while the others joined in.
The victim told deputies that Escobedo claimed he owed him money due to a "deal gone wrong."
Court records show that the victim sustained several injuries, including a stab wound, but survived.
Escobedo faced a Cameron County Magistrate Judge on Tuesday morning where he was issued a $50,000 bond.
