Harlingen man arrested for threatening family with knives

A Harlingen man is behind bars after threatening his family with kitchen knives because they wouldn TMt give him a ride to see his ex-girlfriend.

Harlingen police arrested 22-year-old Ephraim Leyva on an aggravated assault charge Tuesday night.

Investigators told Action 4 News that Leyva became upset when nobody would give him a ride to see his ex-girlfriend.

Leyva allegedly pushed his father down and threatened his father, mother and brother with two kitchen knives.

Police arrived at the family TMs South 5th Street home and arrested Leyva.

The 22-year-old man appeared before a Harlingen municipal judge on Wednesday morning where he was issued a $25,000 dollar bond.
