Harlingen man rams car into SUV with woman, toddler inside

A Harlingen man is behind bars after he allegedly rammed his car into an SUV carrying a woman and her 3-year-old child several times.

Harlingen police arrested 23-year-old Bobby Joe Lara on multiple criminal charges on Friday night.

Investigators told Action 4 News that it all happened Citrus Terrace Drive on the city's northside.

Officers were called to the area after Lara allegedly and intentionally rammed his Chevrolet Impala into the woman's Chevrolet Blazer at least three times.

The woman's 3-year-old child was reportedly inside the SUV at the time.

Police found Lara at the scene of the crime where his car was also damaged.

Investigators are not commenting about Lara's relationship to the woman but confirmed that she knew him.

Officers charged Lara with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, child endangerment and criminal trespassing.

Lara remains behind bars at the Cameron County Jail under $61,000 in bonds.
