A Harlingen mother is behind bars after allegedly fighting with police officers in a domestic disturbance where she used her baby a shield.
Harlingen police arrested 38-year-old Yvonne Michelle Casas on multiple charges early Saturday morning.
Investigators told Action 4 News that officers were called to a domestic disturbance on the 1600 block of East Polk Avenue around 2 a.m. Saturday.
The victim told police that his wife Casas started an argument and pushed him to the ground.
Casas allegedly used her 6-month-old baby as a shield with police and fought with officers even after the girl had been secured.
Investigators said she appeared intoxicated and was uncooperative and combative while being booked.
Officers charged her with assault family violence, child endangerment, resisting arrest and assault of a public servant.
Casas appeared before a Harlingen municipal judge on Saturday morning where she was given $20,000 dollars in bonds.
