It's a family's worst nightmare to lose their child, but the problem grows when that child has Autism.
The Harlingen Police Department is hoping to do something about it and Sgt. Sal Carmona and Jessica Holt joined Action 4 Sunrise to speak more about an upcoming event.
They will be attempting to register all autistic children on the Autism Spectrum so officers can easily identify them.
This Autism awareness event will be on April 27 at the Lon C. Hill park from 9 a.m. to noon.
Medical professionals will be in attendance at this event to inform families of the services out there for assistance.
