A convicted sex offender is behind bars in Harlingen after he allegedly failed to update his address with authorities.
Harlingen police arrested 36-year-old Eric Edward Sanchez on a sex offender duty to register charge on Wednesday.
Investigators told Action 4 News that Sanchez was not living at his reported address and failed to update his records with the sex offender registry.
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) records show that Sanchez served four years and five months in prison for a North Carolina child molestation case.
The records show that he was convicted on two charges of indecent liberties with a 12-year-old girl.
DPS records show that he's required to remain a registered sex offender for life and must report to officials on a quarterly basis.
Sanchez moved to 2614 Euna Court on Harlingen TMs north side back December 2007.
The 36-year-old man had been working in construction and allegedly complied with quarterly reports until now.
Police did not say where Sanchez had moved to but he appeared before a municipal judge on Thursday morning where he was issued a $25,000 bond.
