Authorities have arrested a young mother in connection to an ongoing investigation to infant pornography sent to a sex offender in Corpus Christi.

Harlingen police arrested 22-year-old Desiree Lee Padilla on an aggravated sexual assault charge over the weekend.

Investigators told Action 4 News that it all started when the U.S. Marshalls arrested a sex offender in Corpus Christi back on January 19th.

Authorities found child pornography on the sex offender's cell phone.

Federals agents learned that the San Benito mother sent him the images of herself and the child from her cell phone.

Investigators said that the images included those of an infant girl, who was naked and posed in sexual positions.

Harlingen police arrested Padilla at her home in San Benito on Friday.

Padilla appeared before a Harlingen Municipal Court Judge on Saturday where she was issued a $75,000 dollar bond.

The San Benito woman remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail amid a Child Protective Services investigation.

Court records show that Padilla has previous arrests for marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.
