Harlingen Police Chief Steps Down

Harlingen police Chief Danny Castillo has resigned from office.

He's been the top cop for many years and worked at the pd for almost 20 years.

According to Mayor Chris Boswell, the chief notified the city manager today.

Mayor Boswell said Castillo will remain chief until at least the next six weeks, allowing the city to search for a replacement.

The Mayor says he does not know the reason behind Castillo stepping down, but says it was voluntary.

He also thanks Castillo for his dedication and years of service.
