Harlingen police confirms arrest of alleged driver in fatal crash
The Harlingen Police Department has confirmed the arrest of the alleged driver in a fatal auto-pedestrian accident that occurred on May 11, according to a news release.
Adrien Salas, 31, of Harlingen was apprehended in Pecos, and is expected to be extradited to Harlingen in the next few days, according to the news release.
Harlingen resident, Natividad "Nati" Chavez, was struck by a silver 2013 Ford Fusion when she was walking across the 1100 block of South 77 Sunshine Strip, according to the news release.
Harlingen police issued an arrest warrant for Salas after video surveillance captured him consuming alcohol at a local restaurant and bar, according to the news release.
"Additional footage captures the suspect vehicle, subsequent crash, and failure to stop and provide aid", according to the news release.
Salas was wanted for intoxication manslaughter, a second-degree felony.
