Harlingen teacher jailed for hurting student

      A Harlingen teacher has been placed on leave after being accused of hurting a student.

      Harlingen police arrested 42-year-old Cedric Dwayne Robinson an injury to a child charge.

      Investigators said it all happened at Vernon Middle School on Monday.

      A 14-year old boy and his grandmother reported Robinson to the Harlingen Police Department.

      Investigators said Robinson saw the student spit on his door and took him to the principal's office.

      But the teacher allegedly grabbed the student by the arm and behind the neck causing pain and injury.

      The boy was taken to a local hospital but the extent of his injuries have not been released at this time.

      Robinson remains in custody where he TMs waiting to appear before a judge.

      Harlingen CISD officials said Robinson has placed been put in an administrative leave amid the allegations.
