A Harlingen woman is facing criminal charges after she allegedly lied to police about being kidnapped.
Harlingen police arrested 24-year-old Anna Jasmine Molinero on a false report to a police officer charge on Wednesday morning.
Investigators told Action 4 News that Molinero reported she had been kidnapped back on May 30th.
Molinero allegedly told police that she was kidnapped at knifepoint by an unknown man and left in a remote area.
But investigators reported that the kidapping never happened.
According to police, detectives learned that Molinero filed a false report just to get attention.
Molinero appeared before a Harlingen Court Judge where he was issued a $500 personal recognizance bond.
Under Texas state law, filing a false report to an officer is a Class B misdemeanor punishable up to six months in jail and/or a $2,000 fine.
