Heavy rains that swept across deep South Texas left the streets of Rio Grande City flooded.
A line of thunderstroms swept across the Lone Star State late Friday afternoon.
Viewers quickly posted videos and pictures of the rain and flooding to social media outlets Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Vine.
One photo posted a picture of flooding at a shopping center along U.S. Highway 83.
Rio Grande City Mayor Ruben Villarreal told Action 4 News that there was light hail along with street flooding and standing water.
Villarreal said an American flag at Fort Ringgold was shredded in the storm but there were otherwise no immediate reports of major damage.
The National Weather Service in Brownsville issued a flood advisory for Starr County on Friday afternoon.
Mayor Villarreal believes that 1 and a half to 2 inches of rain fell in 45 minutes but there were no fallen trees and no fallen power lines.
Villarreal said neither the fire department nor the police department had received reports of major damage.
