The National Weather Service Brownsville office issued a urban and small stream flood advisory for minor flooding of poor drainage areas in northern Cameron and southern Willacy counties just after 3pm Monday.
The advisory is set to expire at 4pm.
Sea breeze showers began to develop in the lower valley in the late morning hours.
Heavy rains accompanied some thunderstorms moving northward across north-central Cameron County by midafternoon.
More rain showers are expected throughout the week with greater chances for rain on Thursday and Friday as a tropical wave of moisture moves northwestward across the Yucatan Penninsula and Bay of Campeche.
