Help a child, become a foster parent

Often times we hear about devastating stories about children who cannot live safely with their own families.

In turn, they may be placed either with relatives, an emergency shelter or a foster home.

That is when Benchmark Family Services steps in and to explain the process we had their Office Manager, Amy Villarreal on the show.

She said that from January 1, 2013 to January 1, 2014 the state has reached out to Benchmark with 1,656 referrals for placement with their existing network of Foster Homes.

Currently, they only have 18 homes and are serving a total of 33 children.

If you would like to become a foster parent the requirements are pretty simple.

You must be 21 and older, either single or married, have a steady income and be willing to adhere to their screening process.

BFS currently has an incentive for interested parties of a $250 sign on bonus to assist them with getting a child or children into their home. For more information call them at (956) 683-9035.
