Hidalgo County murder victim had lengthy criminal history

Authorities have identified a body found north of Alamo as a Castroville man with a lengthy criminal record.

Hidalgo County Sheriff TMs Office deputies reported that the body was identified as 39-year-old Oscar Trevio of Castroville, Texas.

Trevio TMs body was found in a neighborhood near the intersection of Iowa and Tower Roads north of Alamo late Sunday night.

It TMs not clear what Trevio was doing hundreds of miles from home.

Investigators said Trevio appeared to have been beaten and died from a gunshot wound to the back of the head.

Deputies told Action 4 News that Trevio had a lengthy criminal record with multiple arrests in the Houston, Austin and Corpus Christi areas.

Tattoos found on Trevio TMs body show that he may have been a member of the Raza Unida prison gang but investigators are not sure of his status.
