Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office seeks 23-year-old suspect in attempted murder case

The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office requested help from the public Wednesday to track down a 23-year-old suspect in an attempted murder case.

At 11:28 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to Cardinal Delta Road to investigate a shooting, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office. Cardinal Delta Road is a dead-end street located northwest of La Joya Juarez-Lincoln High School near the intersection of 7 Mile Line and Iowa Road.

Deputies discovered a 45-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the news release. The 45-year-old man was transported to a local hospital, where he's listed in critical condition.

Investigators identified 23-year-old Arturo Gomez Zermeno as a suspect in the attempted murder, according to the news release. Zermeno may be driving a red 2003 Chevrolet Silverado.

Zermeno should be considered armed and dangerous, according to the news release. The Sheriff's Office asks anyone who sees Zermeno not to approach him.
