A sex offender is behind bars once again after he failed to register as a sex offender.
Andy Allen Reyes was booked at the Hidalgo County Jail on Friday at 5:40 a.m.
Reyes moved from Edinburg to Mercedes and did not update his address to register as a sex offender.
The 38-year-old was arrested by Mercedes Police Department because sex offenders are required to update and register their address when moving to another residence.
Reyes is listed as a high risk sex offender on the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) website and is required to stay on the sex offender registry for his entire life.
According to the DPS website, the victim of the sexual offense was 14-year-old and he was convicted of sexual assault of a child back in 1995.
