High school bathroom fight ends with felony charges
A teen remains behind bars after a bathroom fight at Southwest High School leads to drug and assault charges.
Hidalgo County Sheriff TMs Officers responded to the school after a call was reported about a school fight in one of the bathrooms the morning of April 7th.
Documents obtained by Action 4 News stated that Mario Eduardo Chavarria confronted the victim because he was speaking badly about Chavarria.
The victim reportedly told authorities the fight began in one of the school TMs bathrooms.
According to the Hidalgo County Sheriff TMs Department, 18-year-old Chavarria punched the victim multiple times in his right eye, leaving a cut.
After the fight, the victim was escorted to the nurse TMs office where he was bleeding from his cut and also threw up.
Paramedics rushed the victim to a local hospital for treatment.
Documents stated that the victim suffered an orbital fracture to his eye that required stitches.
Chavarria allegedly admitted to authorities that he challenged the victim to the fight after he was speaking badly about him.
A judge arraigned the teen and charged him with aggravated assault and possession of drugs in a drug free zone.
A bond was set at $75,000, and the teen remains behind bars.
