High-speed chase ends with two arrests north of Donna

Weslaco police arrested two men following a high-speed chase

Two men are facing criminal charges after they led Weslaco police on a chase that ended on a rural road north of Donna.

Weslaco police arrested 27-year-old Ronaldo Hernandez and 24-year-old Luis Antonio Cantu late Wednesday night.

Investigators told Action 4 News that it all started with a traffic stop off of Expressway 83 and FM 1015 around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Hernandez, who was driving a red Volkswagen, allegedly refused to stop for police and lead police on a high-speed chase.

Police followed the car down the expressway and up Val Verde Road but both of them bailed out near Trenton Road.

Officers chased the two men on foot.

Investigators said a dog bit a police officer chasing the suspects but the officer was not seriously injured.

It TMs not clear why Hernandez and Cantu fled but investigators reported that they did not find any contraband in their car.

Hernandez was given $50,000 in bonds for evading arrest in a motor vehicle and evading arrest on foot charges.

Cantu was given a $25,000 bond for an evading arrest on foot charge.
