Houston man caught in Brownsville with $1.1 million in cocaine

A Houston man is behind bars in the Rio Grande Valley after he allegedly tried to smuggle $1.1 million dollars worth of cocaine into the United States.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) arrested 48-year-old Robin Lee Ross on federal drug charges on Tuesday.
Ross drove up from Matamoros at Brownsville B&M International Bridge in a Ford F-150 truck at 1:07 p.m. Tuesday.
Customs officers allegedly found 14 packages with 34.7 pounds of cocaine worth of cocaine hidden in a secret compartment behind the seats.
Investigators believe the cocaine is worth more than $1.1 million dollars on the streets.
Ross appeared before U.S. Magistrate Court Judge Felix Recio in Brownsville on Wednesday morning.
Investigators said Ross is an American citizen who lives in Houston.
Judge Recio denied bond for Ross until a Monday afternoon hearing.
