Hundreds of volunteers lay flags at Rio Grande Valley Veterans Cemetery
Hundreds of volunteers came out to lay flags at over 25 hundred head-stones at the Rio Grande Valley Veterans Cemetery on Saturday morning.
Time and effort from the community is needed in order to properly lay flags to honor fallen veterans on Memorial Day.
The ceremony will remember the late men and women who sacrificed their life to defend the country.
"A lot of people take freedom for granted. Freedom has never been free, it’s paid with rivers and rivers of blood unfortunately and the people who are buried out here are some of those people that paid that sacrifice,” said George Rice, State Veterans Cemetery Representative.
A Memorial Day ceremony is being held at the cemetery at 8:30 Monday morning.
