The identity of a man who fell to his death from a cell phone tower has been released.

Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio said Ronaldo Eduard Smith was fixing a tower that belonged to a church when he fell.

He was 62-years-old, and was not originally from the Rio Grande Valley.

Smith suffered head trauma after he fell from the cell phone tower that was more than 1,000 feet tall.

Cameron County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene of the fatal fall in Bluetown.

The company he was working for at the time of the fatal fall has not been released at this time.
