At least two people are dead and 12 others have been injured after a pickup rolled over during a police chase in South Texas.
KRIS television station in Corpus Christi reports that a police officer in San Diego attempted to stop the pickup Wednesday when its plates did not match motor vehicle records.
The driver fled but eventually lost control of the vehicle in Premont along a stretch of rural highway. Those killed and injured all were in the vehicle.
Some victims were flown by helicopter to area hospitals. Others later were found hiding in nearby brush.
The area is located about 85 miles north of the border with Mexico and is a route police say is used by human traffickers to move immigrants who are in the country illegally.
