The National Hurricane Center has upgraded tropical depression 10 to tropical storm Ingrid. Ingrid is 470 miles south southeast of Brownsville with maximum sustained winds near 45mph.
The storm is moving west at 3mph but is expected to move slowly north and northwest this weekend.
Ingrid is forecast to make landfall late Sunday or early Monday as a tropical storm north of Tampico, MX but remain well south of the Rio Grande Valley.
The biggest concern with this storm will be rainfall and coastal flooding.
The forecast for Eastern Mexico is calling for 10 to 15 inches of rain with isolated amounts of 25 inches while further north in the Rio Grande Valley amounts of 3 to 5 inches should be expected from Sunday to Monday.
Coastal flooding from increased surf is expected along the shore of South Padre Island this weekend.
