      Injured San Benito airman to be airlifted back to Texas

      A San Benito airman critically injured after falling 30 feet while on duty in Iraq is expected arrive back in Texas on Tuesday.

      The mother 20-year-old Junior Aguilar spoke to Action 4 News about his condition.

      Aguilar TMs mother Cyndi Gonzalez said a blood clot was removed from her son's brain just this weekend.

      Gonzalez said will travel to San Antonio to welcome her son back home on Tuesday.

      The airman TMs mother told Action 4 News that her son will make the 14-hour trip from a hospital in Germany to Brooks Medical Center in San Antonio.

      He's expected to arrive in Texas at about 1 p.m. Tuesday.

      Gonzalez said her son is currently in a medically induced coma.

      Doctors report that he's been responding to simple commands.

      Most of the trauma Aguilar sustained during the fall was to the right side of his body.

      Family members said they still don TMt know how Aguilar fell 30 feet but they remain hopeful he will make a full recovery.

      Aguilar is a 2009 San Benito High School graduate and is married and has a 2-year-old daughter.

      His mother is asking that all his Facebook friends post well wishes to Aguilar so she can read them to him during his recovery.
