An insurance agent is facing criminal charges after being accused of stealing at least $4,000 dollars from a customer's bank account.

Harlingen police arrested 28-year-old Guadalupe Rodriguez on a state jail felony theft charge late Wednesday morning.

Investigators told Action 4 News that a woman came forward after noticing thousands of dollars were missing from her bank account since June.

Police didn't say what company Rodriguez worked for but investigators believe that she used her job to get the victim's personal information.

Rodriguez allegedly spent the money on bills.

The Rio Hondo woman appeared before a Harlingen Muncipal Court judge where she was issued a $15,000 bond and ordered to pay $542.43 for outstanding tickets.
